We’re seeing more an more spoofed Twitter spam being sent to trick twitter users into visiting online pharmacology websites.
Most arrive with a simple subject line:
Subject: You have notifications pending
- From: “Twitter” <twitter-notify-login= This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it >
- From: “Twitter” <twitter-notify-login= This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it >
The layout of these bogus notifications is quite realistic; enough so that many users are actually releasing these messages from spam quarantine under the mistaken belief that they are legitimate Twitter notifications falsely blocked by spam filtering.
An example:
While the emails appear authentic, the hyperlinks contained lead to hacked company web sites such as:
These in turn redirect to a variety of spam host sites such as pillsrxdiscountmeds.net and canadadrugs.com among countless others.
