By now everyone should know what Google is or even ‘How to Google’. However, there are many other useful functions to this search engine that you may not know.
Here are a just few of them:-
- Converting. Need to convert a unit of measurement or even another currency? Google will do this for you, simply type the amount and unit of measurement you have and then “to” finally the unit of measurement you want the answer in and Google will do all the calculations. For example typing “100km to mi” will return “62.1371192 miles”
- Define. Need a dictionary definition? Google will do that too. Typing “Define” followed by a word will have the search engine return a definition along with other information such as any synonyms and antonyms.
- Flight Tracking. You have an important customer coming in from overseas or even a relative coming over for the holidays but don’t know when they land. No problem! Simply type their flight number into Google and it will return all the useful information you need, for example if the flight has been delayed, the duration and even the terminal and gate it’s arriving at.
- Translate. A little rusty with your languages. No problem, simply type “translate” followed a word or phrase and then the language you need it translated into and Google will show you the result. For example “translate easy as one, two, three to French”, facile que un, deux, trois.
- Forecast. Going somewhere? You may be travelling for business or even personal reasons, either way, nobody likes to get caught out by the weather, well again, Google has you covered. Simply type “forecast” followed by your destination and Google will give you the local weather for today and even a 7 day forecast with more details shown by clicking on the day of your choice,
Need a laugh?. Apparently it’s not all work at the search engine giant, there are several keywords or phrases when typed into the search engine will give you humorous results. I’ll let you try these for yourself:-
- Tilt
- Do a barrel roll
- Google 1998
- the loneliest number
- recursion
