Want to define a big word without opening a new tab? Want more news about something you’re currently reading on your phone? Chrome for Android now lets you search Google just by highlighting some text without losing your place.
Desktop browsers like Chrome and Firefox have had this feature for awhile: just select some text, right-click on it, and choose “Search Google for”. Now, Chrome on Android has the same feature, but a little slicker.
Just highlight a word or term, and you’ll see a small popup at the bottom of the screen.
You can pull that up to see a full Google search for that term, including Google’s Knowledge Graph answers, which is perfect for defining words or getting quick information on a complex topic.
All this happens in a slide-up drawer, so you don’t have to open another tab.
Of course, if you think that little popup will be more annoying than helpful, you can also turn this feature off from Chrome’s settings (thank you, Google)
