Hatfield Broad Oak 10k

Hatfield Broad Oak 10k Road Race and Family Fun Run

Now in its 33rd year, the HBO 10K has grown to be one of the largest and most popular road races in the South East, attracting 1500 runners nationwide.

Held in the medieval village of Hatfield Broad Oak near Bishop’s Stortford and organised by the local school PTA, the race is held on country roads which are fully closed to traffic which gives the race a very special atmosphere as residents and spectators gather to cheer you on as you loop through the village in a figure of eight, eventually finishing on the beautiful village green in the heart of the village.  Of course, we must also mention that runners are then presented with the famous HBO 10k technical t-shirt the colour of which is a closely guarded secret each year until race day!

The race is a real community effort with support from local companies offering sponsorship and local villagers giving up their day to help set-up, marshal and take down after the event. As always, a big thank you goes out to all runners, volunteers and sponsors that make this event so special!

Sole sponsor of the 1-MILE FAMILY FUN RUN

A 1-mile family Fun Run is held after the main 10k race event for participation by children from the village and runners visiting the village and attracts between 400-500 children and parents. There is no entry fee for the Fun Run and medals are awarded to all children who take part.

Whilst the Fun Run is not part of the 10k licenced event covered by UKA and BARR, the 10K race organisers support the Fun Run by ensuring marshals are left in place on the circular circuit and the timing of the race ensures that it is completed within the timeframe of the road closure order and all medical support provided for the 10k race remains in place.

Held on Monday 28th of May, it’s a great day out for all the family.
